Google announces Nexus 6P at its San Francisco event


Alongside the Nexus 5X, Google also took the wraps off its much-awaited Nexus 6P smartphone in San Francisco. It’s a successor to last year’s Nexus 6, and is made by Huawei.

There’s a slim metal unibody design that adds to its premium look and the smartphone offers a fingerprint sensor at the back along with dual front speakers.

It comes in three storage variants – 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. The 32GB base variant is priced at $499 (approximately Rs 32,500. whereas the 64GB and 128GB versions are priced at $549(approximately Rs 35,700) and $649 (approximately Rs 42,200), respectively.

Nexus 6P offers a 5.7-inch display which runs at a WQHD (2560×1440 pixels) resolution and features Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Under the hood is a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 64-bit octa-core processor paired with Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

On the photography front, the smartphone features a 12.3-megapixel rear camera with LED flash that’s capable of recording 4K videos. It also supports slow motion video recording at 240fps. For selfie lovers, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone comes with 3,450mAh non-removable battery and USB Type-C port with fast charging feature.

Connectivity options include single-SIM card slot, 4G support, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. On the software front, it runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box.
